Received 202-210-0054 call from someone said she is with the Federal Government Grants Dpt. Said the Federal Government randomly selected my name to give me $9k tax free because i have been a good citizen and have paid my taxes on time. She asked for my debit card number, credit card number or a pre-paid card number to have the money deposited to my card. She gave me a confirmation number and a phone number 202-407-9796 to call back. You call back and a woman will ask you your name and for the confirmation number. She then will tell you they require $250 fee to wire the $9K from the Federal Reserve bank in New York. They will not transfer funds till you pay the $250 cash. THIS IS A SCAM!!!

Received a call from this number a few times before, decided to answer it today. Supposedly from the U.S. Grant Department, a division of the U.S. Treasury, giving me $9,000 for being a good citizen, having no criminal record, and paying my taxes. She was hard to understand; the line was staticy and English was not her first language. Obviously a scam! People must fall for this, but its hard to believe. I sometimes like to string them along, which was easy to do. I figure the longer I can keep them on the line, the more annoying I can be to them and as long as they are talking with me, I'm putting a very small dent in their profit margin. Kept her on hold for about 20 minutes while I got my account number...yeah right!I Disconnected the call after the 20 minute hold, and she called right back. She said she'd give me a grant confirmation # and then a phone number to call back to so that I could verify...but not until I shared my information with her, specifically, my account information. Wouldn't give me my name and kept asking me to spell it for her. Eventually she did give me the phone number to call back to; not the same number she called from, and got upset when I still wouldn't give her any information. I called the number, actually while still on the phone with her, and she hung up. Spoke with a male, he wouldn't give me his name, said he was the "Senior Account Manager". I continued to refuse to give any information, which angered him. I told him to remove my name from his list and do not call me again. He said "okay", if I do something for him, and asked me to "kiss" him and threatened me, saying either I give him my information or "kiss" him, or he would not remove me from the call list and would infact harrass me, calling every minute of every day. I hung on the line a bit longer, he became more and more ridiculous, and I tried to record him but was unsuccessful.
BTW: That phone number "Mary" gave for the "Senior Account Manager" was 202-697-9658. -

I too just received a call from the United States Government stating that I was awarded a Grant of $9,000 that I don't have to pay back because I was an upstanding citizen who pays my taxes and credit cards on time. They only needed my credit card or bank information to transfer the money to me. I told them they could mail me a check if I was truly awarded a grant and that I wanted an official letter of notification regarding the grant and the stipulations regarding it. I was hung up on mid sentence. This is a total scam. Do not give them ANY identifying information about yourself!

Got a call from this number today. Identified themselves (after the traditional Robo-dialer pause) as someone from the U.S. Government. My response (which was 100% true): "You are calling a commercial truck driver who is trying to sleep. You are interrupting my sleeping time, this had better be darned important". (I used a similar word to darned, trying to keep things clean) I think his response was "**** off" and he hung up. If it really *was* a government employee, they would had probably apologized and asked when a good time to call was.

Just received a call from 202-210-0054 saying they were from Washington D.C and wanted to transfer 9000 dollars to my account in the form of a grant.. Hahaha I messed with them big time and asked to speak to a supervisor. He put a lady on the phone. They were so stupid to think I'd fall for that. I could hear their t.v. in the background. DONT GIVE THEM YOUR BANKING INFO!

Getting calls from this number for quite a while, never leave a message and when I answered, they said something about Government grant money and that I was approved or something like that. I've never applied for it and when he wanted to get more details for the transfer I just said he can send me a letter

Just received a call saying I am being given $9000 from the US Government BECAUSE I am a trustworthy citizen. I googled the number while I was on the phone. I told them "I'm sorry I just goggled your number and I am aware this is a scam..." They hung up in mid sentence. LOL! Beware!
