I just checked with Microsoft. According to their help desk they will never contact you first. This appears to be a scam operation. If someone contacts you first from Microsoft/Windows hang up and go online and contact Microsoft. Also, report the situation to them.

Class action lawsuit reported scammer with the number 8006427676 as Harassment calls
Called the 18006427676 as directed on microsofts website. First person took all my personal information, then told me to call another number for "help" with my email problems but I told her to transfer me. Got transferred, the guy on the other line was very unprofessional but told me to use Quick Assist to establish a remote desktop connection and take control of my computer. I gave the guy my access code which allowed him control my computer. He then started to delete my banking emails, and asking very personal questions that have no releation whats so ever to the reason I was calling. I called him out if he was trying to scam me, then he put me on hold and started deleting and moving my emails! WOW! I immediately shut down my computer and deleted Microsoft Quick Assist. Scanned for viruses, changed passwords. Research has shown that this number has been compromised and Microsoft is supporting these scammers. Time to start a class action lawsuit! I was given this number by a scammer. By listening to the on hold 15 minute queue it sounds legit. Remember guys... Scammers spoof real numbers sometimes . It is so easy to do in fact I've done it to ring this number. I can't say 100% that this is a legit number but I am 100% sure of the spoofing. This would explain why some ratings are low and some are high. I think the scammer gave me this number because he was tired of me bugging him.

Message on voice mail: Microsoft (computerized female voice) says my IP and license key has to be changed because it has been compromised. I am supposed to press #1 to get to the technician to help do this over the phone. They called again about 15 minutes later and I picked up the receiver and then quickly hung up.

'Mark' from 'Microsoft' called and was very aggressive stating that my email account has been hacked in three different states. That I needed to login to a computer and follow his commands to fix this. I asked him for his number to call right back. He said why can't you talk now, can you not hear me? I said I needed to use the restroom, he said the what? I said you know, where you poop! He started to give me a number to call him back, when I asked him to repeat himself he gave me a totally different number. SCAM SCAM SCAM!!!

Got a very official looking Microsoft pop up window on my computer saying my files have been compromised and my IP address is about to be reported for fraudulent activity, call this 877 number to rectify damage. So I call, and immediately can tell it’s a scam. I say I plan on reporting the number to Microsoft and hang up. They called back twice and left threatening and sexually explicit voicemails. I forwarded the vm’s to my husband for evidence, and we are currently in talks with our local sheriff dept.

I think its a guys name and I am not,. they say someone is trying to take my identity .. why would micro soft call and ask what kind of computer do I have and ask me to please log on.. I DONT HAVE ANYTHING TO DO WITH MICROSOFT ON MY COMPUTER.. nice try scammers.. I hope no one falls for this!

saying that they are working for Microsoft and able to assist me to take care my product key problem. first, I don't know they hack my number, they have very strong foreign tone ( sound like someone from Indian or pak*stanis). they keep calling me and asked for name, phone number, and address ( why?). but they never provide any solution. just put me on hold like very long times.

He identified himself as someone from Microsoft. I told him that Microsoft does not make phone calls so he changed his story and said he was from Windows. And that someone from Mexico was / is hacking my email account. Wanted me to type some sort of message into a box after holding down the flag a the letter g. This was supposed to show me all the warnings which supposedly was over 3,000. I told him that I was busy and had to go and hung up.
