I called the actual RFS collection agency to verify whether or not they were calling me. I was told it's a scam call and to block it. I was told that if RFS was contacting me about a debt they would be calling from an 800 number and leaving an 800 number for call back...
Just block and go on about your day. -

Called my daughter but referenced myself. Said has important documents and to call urgently. I have ZERO debt and I was also a victim of ID theft the same morning where someone tried to open several personal loans under my name/info via Lending Tree. I believe that the incidents are related.

Whether it's the prerecorded David Dorsey or Brian Baker calling from a supposed POS collections agency, or Mr. Gonzalez with 'RFS,' this is simply a classic past-due payday loan scam. If you respond, they won't stop calling, as they hope pressure will make you give in and pay them. Just report them to the FTC and CFPB, block them, and go about your day as usual.
The message I received today was as follows: “Hello this is Mr. Gonzalez with RFS we're looking to speak with COMPUTER VOICE NAME if this is you please press one now or hold for message your account has been flagged for immediate review due to a past due balance multiple attempts have been made to resolve this matter however we failed to come to an agreement this firm is now preparing to take action for the outstanding balance owed however there is still time to resolve this matter amicably the phone number in which you can use to contact us directly is 858-326-0646 again that is 858-326-0646 or you can press one now we look forward to hearing from you have a great day…”MsSavage replied 5/1/25, 3:28 PMI got this same call. I actually called RFS and they told me this is a scam. They told me they only call from an 800 number and leave an 800 number as a call back. -
