I got a call from this number from a man with broken English stating I was randomly selected with 1,700 other Americans to receive a grant for $10,200 from the government. Stated it was free money and all mine. So I go along with him asking questions. I keep asking the name of his company. He repeatedly states, This is the United States Government Grants Department. I say, it sounds like a scam. He promises it is not.
He states that I have two ways to get the money. First is to give him my bank account number and it will be in my account with 20 to 25 minutes, the other is to give him my credit card number and they can put it on there - ANY credit card. I said, no, I will not do either, just send me a check. He said, 'This is the United States Government Grants Department, we do not write checks". So I quickly looked them up on the internet. There was an article from the Washington Post stating if you get a call from The United States Government Grants Department, hang up immediately because it is a scam. I read the article to the man. He said, 'No this is not a scam. This is the United States Government Grants Department and we have $10,200 for you, just give me your bank account number'. I repeatedly said, no just send me a check. Finally I hung up.
He was persistent.Heather replied 11/7/14, 2:38 PMI received the exact same phone call and requested information via US Mail and a check be issued. He told me it would take a week to receive. -

Called several times in one day but left no message. I finally answered call and was told the government had randomly selected me to get a grant for $10,200.00. When I burst out laughing and told him I knew it was a scam, he tried to deny it. I hung up. I'm on the DNC list, so not sure why they insist on calling.

This number called my husband's cell phone, and as normal practice, we answer each other's unknown number calls to screen them. The man with broken english asked to speak to my husband ____. I told him that this is his wife, can I tell him what this is regarding...he says no I speak to him. I told him well this is his wife, you need to tell me what company you are with. "This is not the company of I talk to his wife" so I got a little loud with him and he starts saying "I don't know what you're effing talking about." Then denied cursing at me when I called him on it, as he was telling me that I need to watch how I speak to him. I laughed at his attempts to be intimidating and hung up on him.
Monae replied 10/24/14, 7:00 PMI think this is the same man who called my cell phone when I asked to speak to a supervisor he said why you need supervisor then he told me f u physically I was shocked all I could say was go back to your country but I fixed him I add a block app an I have not had anymore problems. -

Call was confusing but I got the gist when I told them they were just a scamer, he went off saying I need to watch my words. I told him he called my private number and I don't have to watch anywords I say and to not call again or I'll beat his ass. :) that felt good. it is now 06.25.2014 they have been off the phones for 8 months.

According to the call, I get a grant for education, for hospital bills or whatever from the government itself. Now isn't that great? the thing is, the nice lady needs my credit card or bank account number to transfer the money. It's such a shame.

I have been called from this number multiple times. These people, once you pick up, bother you and try to make you pay for it. The way they talk about it and not wanting to give you information is a scam.
