Clearly a scam. My wife got the call today, the caller presented himself as Amazon Customer Service representative and started to ask the name of the person he was talking to. My wife figured that Amazon would rather ask for me, the account owner. The call got dropped. I have called Amazon about 15 minutes later, explained them what happened and asked if they could confirm that Amazon tried to contact me today. I was assured that they keep track of all contact attempts (calls, emails...) and they did NOT try to contact me. So, 100% scam, as suspected.

I contacted customer service through Amazon.com, and this is the number the app dialed on my phone. I waited less than a minute for a representative to come on the line. They had all my acct info and the info on the order I was calling about. Totally legit.

This number is totally legit. I have an order placed which, due to an Amazon security issue, got cancelled twice. Understandably, I was super frustrated since it takes time to find the items you are ordering and then there is the shipping time, so my delivery dates were going to be farther and farther back. I totally asked them to call me next time there is an issue before just cancelling. . . and that is what this call was.
He basically said, "I'm calling from Amazon for _____. Can you confirm you are _____?"
He then said that the call was regarding an order that was placed and to confirm it was actually placed.
My response. "Yes! Yes it was. It's electronic components and I placed the order. Please don't cancel it again!"
He then confirmed that I confirmed it was legit and said, "I will make sure this is processed."
So hallelujah! Totally Amazon and if it comes up, answer it, else orders might be cancelled or whatnot. -

Might be legit? They called my office and my extension. I could barely understand the woman through her thick indian accent. She had my Amazon corporate account number. She was unclear about things and hard to understand, but sounded like she was selling a service of some sort. I am the admin on our Amazon accounts and had signed in yesterday to remove some users. The thing is, I never sign in to our Canadian account but did yesterday and it just so happens she calls the next day mentioning our Canadian account and giving me the account number which was correct but I don't think is public info. Hard to determine. I think Amazon would not reach out by phone if it was important.

I just signed up as an Amazon Seller on Amazon.com website. Part of the security verification is to get an automated callback from Amazon verifying that the phone number you associate with your account is valid and verified - that it is really you. When I entered my phone# onto the application site verification process, a code number was generated on my screen. Once I received the automated phone call, i had to enter the code generated on my screen into the phone using my keypad. (I hope I explained this right!) No scam.

The phone rang, I was placed on hold and when someone claiming to be an Amazon rep came on, they asked me for the name on the account...which I don't have an account associated with this number! Don't know if it's legit or not but some others have suggested a request for callback with the wrong number entered is to blame. Idk tho

Very competent Amazon Rep returning call to me after we were disconnected. He just did what he said he would do! He was located in a call center outside the USA- which I already. He was the kind of help we all wish we would get!

This is Amazon. Here is the issue some people are probably having. The way Amazon's support line works is you type in your # and they call you. If someone type in their number wrong then the Amazon support line calls someone else (like you) instead of the correct person. So those on here that think they are getting a Telemarketing call are most likely just cases of someone entering an incorrect phone # or it's someone SPOOFING the Amazon support #.

I didn't answer because I didn't recognize the number. I called the number back a while later, and they said they were Amazon, and asked for personal contact info. I hung up and contacted Amazon through their site and had them call me. We discussed the call, and I was told they did in fact call my cell phone at the time I received the call, and we spoke about why they called.

Supposedly Amazon. Called 4 times in quick succession, finally leaving a voicemail. The voicemail did leave the legit amazon logistics number for me to call, but then I called amazon directly because I thought it was suspicious (the voicemail referred to an email regarding the issue that would be sent but I never received).
Amazon unequivocally told me that this number I received a call from was NOT associated with Amazon. I’m assuming the other posters who are verifying this number as legit are likely referring to the number that is left in the voicemail (or they have been thoroughly scammed).
I’d also like to point out that after I received this call, my confirmations of delivery came through from Amazon via text and on the website. Clearly there had been no actual issue with the delivery that I had to deal with as the caller had claimed. -

Pretty convincing imitation of an Amazon rep. Easy to check; call Amazon for yourself, they will verify this number is a scam. Know that scammers will post onto this board claiming they are legit, they are not.

I admit, i wss very suspicious when they called... showed up on caller ID as "Amazon Customer SVC". If i hadn't e-mailed them less than an hour earlier about a missing order, i wouldn't have answered.
When i picked up, there was no one there... just the "on hold" elevator music. So, i hung up. They called back 5 minutes later.
Again, I was put on hold. And when a human came online, he asked ME why *I had called them,*... and insisted ge had no record of them calling me! I pointed out that the only reason i was on the phone was because it had rung, and they were on the other end.
He did ask for the name the account was under and my e-mail...I wouldn't have given any credit card info, naturally, but they didn't ask for it.
They weren't especially helpful, but i logged into Amazon 20 minutes later, and the order was cancelled.
It has to be Amazon, but it feels like they found a cut rate shop to provide customer service, and it's not at all providing the professional image you'd think they want.
Getting closer all the time to cancelling Prime..

I didnt recognize it at first, they called 2x in as many mins and left no mssg', with the # saying 'Washington' below and looking similar in nature to so many other past bs calls i automatically assumed it to be some bs intent ph. call. I googled # and saw people suggesting it to be Amazon so the next time i got a call from this # I answered and it was Amazon. Number is totally legit!!!!

well i hit the call customer service, it said wait for the phone to ring. i think it was about 3 after seconds my phone rang , with this number. talked to agent about order and issues. awaiting next elevated level of customer service. IF i did not want to give said information of verification it was not required to escalate said call. Phone or email contact is next given. no issues.

I received an email from a supposed Sears employee rep who had a *customer* who was frantic and dramatic, demanding. When I started to go over the terms of the warranty and information, she was verbal and more dramatic, and he or they hung up on me. No doubt wanted free stuff and did not want to comply with terms of warranty.

I emailed amazon on possible fraud/hacking into my account. almost immediately get a call from this 206 prefix number. the guy on the other line stumbled as i asked him "how do I know this is really Amazon.com and not some hacker dude trying to get more info from me...."
I hung up and called Amazon customer service myself. Poor guy- hope he doesn't get fired because of me.....LOL -

Just Amazon calling to get permission to leave a package on my doorstep because I'm not home. They didn't ask for any personal information other than my name. I gave them permission, less than 30 seconds later I received an email from Amazon that my package was delivered.

From what I can tell, if you were called by this number and didn't request it, you should check to make sure your amazon account wasn't hacked. This is the number I talked to amazon on after my account was hacked, after talking to them my account was fixed.
