I am about 99% certain they are using a system that takes what you say and uses voice recognition to play messages that sound very much like you are talking to a real person. But if you think about it, you can tell it's not. Try giving responses that are unusual and see what they say then. Even with normal responses you can tell if you pay close attention. It's like you are talking to a clever robot. :-)
Since this telemarketer / lead generator is using a recording, you can report them to the FTC at 1-888-382-1222 even if you are NOT on the federal do-not-call list. Report them. The more complaints the more likely they will be shut down and fined into the stone age. :-) -

Called saying I had criminal charges. I don't even have a parking ticket to my name. Voice sounded automated and fake, asked for my name and information. I hung up and reported the number to the authorities. Sketchy number, I recommend doing the same.
