I Called Cox then they told me how to google it etc. This was the 2nd call, he wanted me to go into my email account and open the scam folder, that's when I said I have to leave then he gave me the # to call back etc. He had my name and email address and phone#

What sounded like a woman with a Slavic accent told me the "Russians" were trying to hack into my email account with sbcglobal.net. ( yahoo). I asked if she was with ATT and she said yes. Then I asked if she was working for Yahoo account control. Again the answer was yes. This was a very fishy call but somewhat credible because I just had googled the Russian expression for " happy new year" and I was writing to a Russian friend in Amsterdam. Pure coincidence and so I am convinced that this was some type of scam, although the woman assured me that she did not want to log into my computer. Fat chance I would have let her. Glad to know that my evaluation was correct

Claimed to be "Claire Watson" from "Symantek Yahoo Hacking Division". She seems to be using a fake name with a heavy accent, and is apparently an Asian Indian scammer from a call center in India or Malaysia, seeking to get control of your computer for ID theft or ransomware. Apparently using a VOIP protocol to appear to be from Mountain View, California. Appears to be coached with a cybercrime boss in the background when asked for company name and address. Report to ftc.gov.

Just called and said I needed to get online....only on my computer...NOT OTHER DEVICES. Russia and 7 other countries have hacked into my AOL address and are using it. "AOL is just letting me know of this security risk ...but they can't send me an emai regarding the issue."
