The caller is Medicredit, a medical debts, Bill collector. I do owe medical debt and I make regular monthly payments to the individual businesses to whom I owe. I have no idea who this outfit is, but I do not owe THEM a dime. I will continue to pay down the debt I owe as I am able to.

called me telling me I owe money for daughter's surgery. They were not able to provide email or fax of the debt details. They had confidential information about the surgery. I then called the hospital and they confirmed that I still had the debt that the caller stated. I am not real happy about the whole process and still not sure if I should pay them at a reduced rate or just the hospital.

As a medical employee, I am only allowed to have just enough info to be able to do my job. Nothing else. I would record the calls and see how much information they have. Maybe the hospital will end up paying you.Heckrock replied 6/26/18, 8:22 PMKeep in mind recording the calls without notification is illegal in most states & if you say you ARE recording the calls you will most likely be hung up on - or transferred to supervisor who will be much smarter at outtalking you from the situation. This is a scam company with no legitimate debt power. See my comment above. -

People, this is just a collection agency. If they are calling you, then a medical provider placed your account in collections because you didn't pay it. I just called the number back and they were very nice to work with - found out I hadn't paid my ER visit bill in full and took care of it.

Keep calling about a surgery that went bad. Bills upon bills showing up with explanations like, "it was just an estimate, you owe more now". Never mind I'm not fixed after 50k out of pocket (thanks Obamacare), just shut up and pay. Fixing you is incidental to us getting paid for doing it.
Heckrock replied 6/26/18, 8:20 PMDo not say "thanks Obamacare" - the MAXIMUM out of pocket by ACA law is around 14700 for a family & 7350 for a single person. There is no way you could ring up 50k out of pocket.

End story - you went out of network, or did not read your SBC form (Summary of Benefits) & took services you failed to research - which is your job to do. I cannot tell you how many people just pick a plan, don't do homework, don't ask a Dr or hospital or pathologist if they are in-network, then call & cry about it later. You're an adult. Act like one. You're lucky you're getting such a great deal - learn how to use it like any tool. A gun can either save your life or kill you. You have to learn to shoot it first...

We got call from this number saying we owed for a surgery in 2012. There was no surgery in 2012. They had wrong birthdate, social security number, and other information.
