I received two emails, one requesting me to verify my email for a new account and another authorizing the creation of a new account with the last six digits of the account number and a link. The first email provided a contact number, which I called and spoke to a lady who confirmed my details and closed the account as fraudulent. She sent another email with a link to Identity Theft Recovery. Although some sources suggested it was a scam, the number listed on a promo contact sheet from BofA's website proved to be legitimate. Close any fraudulent accounts and secure personal information.
