While they are exempt from the do not call list, all you have to do is file a police report at your local PD for phone harrassment. They are NOT exempt from that. It's a little time out of your day, but they will get the point. It's get's expensive for them to have to hire a lawyer to represent them in your state. Lets say they are in California and you are in North Carolina. It costs them big money to get a lawyer there to defend the phone harrassment charge that far away and with all the pre trial discovery you can really jack up their legal bills.

These calls went from once a week to everyday between 8 - 8:30 a.m. I blocked the call but unfortunately the phone still rings once (enough to wake me up). I suffer from insomnia and sometimes fall asleep at 6a.m. When I called the number a recording says United War Veterans pick up service. My friend told them she would donate if they would stop the harassing calls and left 5 bags marked UWV on her front porch like they requested. I saw them there Friday when I arrived at 1:00 p.m. and they were still there when I left after dark late that evening.

Getting calls every day for several months, even after asking to be put on Internal Do Not Call List. This is the United War Vets. I called their NYC # (212) 693-8059. Asked for supervisor. Cathy Landers, supervisor took my call. I proceeded to give her an earful. I suggest you all do the same.

Not sold on them being who they say they are & wether or not they are truly calling for the reasons that they say they are (e.g. scammers trying to find out who you are, where you live, when you are home... etc..)
Mostly upset that they called today before 8:30am. Who conducts this type of business before 9am!!? Any entity that comes up as Unavailable and does not remove numbers when people request removal (one commenter said they were told they have a right to call since they are a charity) will not receive support from me when calls are incessant and non-stop. -

I bought a call blocker device and it stops any blocked numbers or area codes immediately on their end and it does not ring in my home. While they may be a legitimate charity, their daily calls until someone answers and refusal to remove people from their internal calling list, is excessive and immoral. While charities are exempt from donotcall, they are also required to remove numbers from calling lists and can be reported if they do not comply. -

I'm a little torn about this number. I've received at least 4 or 5 calls at all hours of the day before I got around answering one. The caller said he was from the United War Veterans Council and asked if I would be interested in donating unwanted clothes or household goods.
He was rather polite when I told him I wasn't interested and requested to be removed from the call list, but I still don't know how they got my number in the first place and if they are legitimate or not.

UWVC is a legitimate number, they call to say they will have a truck in your area on a certain date, do you have anything to donate. They also send me postcards and e-mails and when I HAVE something to donate, I set it up online. I ask them every time they call to take me off their calling list but they still call.Now I don't answer and will donate items to a charity who doesn't hound me for items after I've specifically asked them not to
