   these people just keeps calling with different phone number every time! i think they use a computer program that continuously procures new phone numbers as they need them. I just block them on my phone as they come up.

   Calling for someone with the similar name and last 4 SSN are different. But yet they continue to call. Finally, I have warned and sent them to hell Those are the nicest words I can use here.

   I have received phone calls from this particular company for fifteen years!!!! I have answered a few times, they say I owe Capital One $××× amount but I don't have a credit card for them.

   This company keeps harrassing me at work they even called my employer but I told them that if this company can not send legal papers to my employer or me then they are fraud. If it was a legitimate collection agency then why can't they leave a message. Still waiting for legal papers from them and proof of me oweing anyone. I have had my identity stolen so you can see why I am sceptical about collection agancies.

    This number constantly calls and hangs up. I am on a do not call list and I do not have any unpaid bills.

    Just FYI, the do not call list is for telemarketers - not for debt collection companies or scam artists. Being on the don't call list, won't stop these people from calling, you have to use some kind of app or program to block them on your phone.

    i answer my phone:"woman who walks with goats and is very b#&*%*y in the morning without coffee" Not once has anyone responded. I have noted to portfolio others in the past that the debt is past the 7 yrs mark.mind you_that yr span is changing in states. IL went from 7 yrs to 10. others States are increasing the length as well. I have paid off two major ones but they continue to call. Keep track of any you have paid off and because you are not wiped off the list. Not, whistles and small horns and tapes of screaming children work well to deter calls

    Its a company called Portfolio Recovery attempting to collect a debt. Don't even bother to pick up especially if your debt is over 7 yrs old.

    Portfolio Recovery... tracing the number to a home in Forestdale, Alabama, just outside of Birmingham... one of several hundred nonreputable phone numbers all connected to old debt that have run out because of statutes of limitations...

    Forward your call from this number to either the state attorneys office, and or the doctors office, or a local police dept, or another 800 number.

    These guys hire out local dumbfucks who set up a dummy company to scam people into collecting debt. And by scam, no I do NOT mean simply calling you & harrassing you for money you owe. I mean, they take advantage of your current situations to get you to call them.
    For example, my house had been broken into 2 1/2 weeks ago & a bunch of stuff was taken. Then these guys call me up offering me a "Free ADT Alarm" system with just having to pay the monthly "on" fee. They played upon the fears of my family in order to get us to pay our debt or get us in court. I think it may be for my Father but he's been dead for a few years & hasn't lived in this home for nearly 20 years.
    Interestingly enough, about two weeks before our house was broken into somebody was trying to serve papers for my Father and my mother went ballistic on him. Makes me wonder if this is just a coincidence or if this company has some sort of "side contracters" that do whatever it takes, incl. robbing somebody in order to get some money.
    Hmmm.
    Either way, that's a low-class scum way of trying to manipulate someone. Taking advantage of a tragedy & loss such as that just to get what's left over, lol which ain't shit now. I guess they can come clean up the mess the robbers made cuz that's all they're going to get.
