Just had a call from this number. A man said he was calling from Microsoft and that they had received a fatal error message from my computer, indicating that it had been infected with a virus. I told him I work for Microsoft and know for a fact that we don't make these kinds of calls. He hung up so quick, I didn't even have the time to tell him I was totally bluffing and that my field of work is totally computer-unrelated. Well, my bad...

This man with a heavy accent called here, saying that he was from "Microsoft", that my computer had sent them a error message of some sort and that he was now calling to fix the problem. This was literally a day after I had bought a new computer that was still in the process of being set up, but I figured I played along for a little while longer, just to see where they were going with this. He then said to press start and type in CMD into the search and click enter. I said I thought my computer just froze and that I had to go. Long story short: It's a scam - so beware!

Got a call yesterday from someone with a heavy accent, claiming that he was from Microsoft and that my computer had been attacked by a virus. He said that my computer sent them a critical error message when I asked how they even had that information and then said not to worry, he was calling to fix the problem. When I asked how he was going to do that over phone, he said something along the lines of that I should just do as instructed and that he would then be able to take care of it. I thought it was shady and according to all my virus scan programs there was no virus, so I decided to hang up. It's definitely a scam.
