Calls claiming to be sheriff from 714-266-6198 (called again using above number stating I can verify he is a sheriff as he is using the above office number) stating I have warrants issued due to failure to appear in court. When I explained that I never received a summons, he told me that it appears I signed for it and I will need to meet him at the police station associated with the number above with 6000.00 bond or I will be arrested. Stated that I would receive the money back minus fees if signature turned out not to be mine. Told me the call was being recorded and I am to drive immediately to the station without hanging up or I will be arrested. When I stated the police station hours show it is closed, he said it does not work that way for the sheriffs. They are open and I need to clear my warrants. Told him I was still concerned about the situation and would have my attorney contact him. Then he hung up on me. To verify story, I called the police and warrants office, both said this person was a fraud and I have no warrants. BEWARE, THESE PEOPLE ARE DANGEROUS!!!

I have the same exact situation like this, the caller with this number appeared to be legit from Santa sheriff department. He told me I was MCO, maintain contact list. I had to remain contact with him throughout the trip to Santa Ana jail house to meet him so he knew I would not contact anyone. If I chose to be in criminal option, that I could hang up and called my lawyer. If I would want to be in civil option case then I had to show up now to verify my signature about the summons. This guy is really professional. He told me to check the number and gave me my case number to write down. Beware, he is dangerous and a professional scammer.
