Kayla reported Imposters scam with the number +18002497097 as Cost trap
I have received a voicemail from various 860 (CT where I'm from) numbers for the past several weeks and all of them quote this phone number as the call-back number. It's a recorded message of a guy stating the below exact message every time. It sounds very convincing, so if I still had federal student loans (and if it actually came from a 1-800 number, I may have believed it).
"Hi, this is Ethan with the student services department. I'm following up in regards to your outstanding federal student loans. We've been trying to reach you because you're eligible for federal student loan forgiveness due to the changes made in 2021. It's imperative that I speak with you as soon as possible since the Covid-19 payment delay is about to end. To discuss your options, please give me a call back at 1-800-249-7097. I look forward to speaking with you, have a great day."
